1. BAPTISM PREPARATION GROUP
This is a group of parishioners who prepare parents & godparents for their children’s Baptism. The purpose of the preparation is to show that the Baptism is important not just for the child but also for their family and the community to which they will become a member of. The Group meets six times a year and parents need to contact the parish Office for further information.

2. CHILDREN’S LITURGY OF THE WORD
We meet during the 11.15 a.m. Mass every Sunday morning. We proclaim the Word of God at a level for children to understand and then
discuss how it is relevant to their lives. We are always grateful for more help and support.

3. CONFIRMATION PREPARATION GROUP
Confirmation is conferred on Yr10 pupils from our local schools. We usually meet 6 weeks before the Celebration Mass to prepare the Candidates. The programme we follow is ‘Plugged In’, a high-tech and interactive series of dvd’s.

4. FLAME
This is a group of people who fundraise and take children & adults with learning difficulties to the Marian Shrine of Lourdes every Easter. We believe in a family and joyful atmosphere and always have the best of times, believing that we are all important and loved by God.

5. FRIENDS OF JACOBS WELL
We were formed after the Parish Centenary Year to financially support, pray and encourage the parish of St. Justin’s, Nablus in Palestine. We have built up strong and lasting friendships with our friends in Nablus and many of our parishioners are in regular contact with people over there. We also try to raise awareness within the local area of the situation that Palestinian Christians are living in. We also try to support communities by buying their local produce.

6. KNIGHTS OF ST. COLUMBA
The KSC is the largest order of Catholic laymen in the U.K. Any practising Catholic gentleman from the age of 16 can become a member. It is a family organisation, firmly committed to the protection of human life from conception to natural death. We support one another & our families through the provision of fraternal benefits, participating in various charitable activities. We are Council No.493 which because of increasing membership now meets in St. Paul’s Parish Club, West Derby , on the 2nd Wednesday of the month at 8 p.m. Were always ready to welcome new members.Anyone interested, contact our Grand Knight, Harry Knight or Fr. Mark, our Council Chaplain.

7. LEGION OF MARY
The Legion of Mary was founded in Dublin, Ireland on 7 September 1921. It is a lay catholic organisation whose members are giving service to the Church on a voluntary basis in almost every country.The object of the Legion of Mary is the glory of God through the holiness of its members developed by prayer and active co-operation in Mary’s and the Church’s work. The unit of the Legion of Mary is called a praesidium, which holds a weekly meeting, where prayer is intermingled with reports and discussion. The Legion sees as its priority the spiritual and social welfare of each individual. The members participate in the life of the parish through visitation of families, the sick, both in their homes and in hospitals and through collaboration in every apostolic and missionary undertaking sponsored by the parish. We meet after 9.30 a.m. Mass every Thursday in the presbytery. New members are always welcome.

A group of people who administer the Body & Blood of the Lord during the weekday and weekend Masses. We also take Holy Communion to many of the sick & housebound and to the local Nursing Home.

Proclaiming the Word of God is an important and essential part of the life of the Church. More Readers are always welcome to be part of this important ministry for weekday & weekend Masses.

11. RAINBOWS FOR ALL GODS CHILDREN
Rainbows is a non profit making, international organisation that provides training for establishing peer support groups for children, adolescents and adults who have experienced a death, divorce or other painful transition n their family. We help them work through the grief process by implementing the RAINBOWS curricula in schools, churches and social service agencies. Such grief needs support as well as healing. This need is growing each passing year. Rainbows provides a programme which, when followed, has been proved to be effective. The aim of the programme is to give participants an understanding of their new family unit; to assist them in the building of self-esteem; and to direct them towards a healthy acceptance of the changes that have taken place in their lives. We now offer this vital service in the parish and parish schools.

12. SAFE & SOUND
We believe that all members of our parish family deserve to be respected and treated as members of God family. We ensure the safety of all peoples, especially children & vulnerable adults. We follow guidelines laid down by the Nolan Report and we coordinate the CRB checks.

13. ST. CECILIA’S SHOP

15. THE GUILD OF ST. MARTHA
A group of parishioners who maintain the cleanliness of the church. We meet every Wednesday morning at 9.45 for a couple of hours. New members are always welcome.
16. THE GUILD OF ST. STEPHEN
Altar Servers play a very important role within the Liturgy of the Church. We assist the Celebrant and the people in giving true worship to God. New members are welcome as long as you come to Church and have made your 1st Communion.

17. THE GUILD OF ST. THERESE OF LISIEUX
People pray and give thanks to our Creator in many different ways. We try to assist people in the beauty of flowers and church decoration. We ensure that there is a constant display of flowers all year but especially for Easter & Christmas and other important occasions. We decorate the church for weddings and other ‘personal’ celebrations. New members are welcome and you don’t have to be an expert flower arranger, just someone who is willing to get stuck in.

18. THE UNION OF CATHOLIC MOTHERS
The U.C.M. is a National Catholic Organisation which runs on a national, diocesan and parish foundation level. We are a group of women who meet in the Parish Club every Thursday at 8.30 p.m. We have discussions, fundraise for important causes but especially pray and support marriage and Christian family life. You don’t have to be a mother, married or even catholic to join, as long as you agree to the values and ideals of UCM . Why not come along for a natter and a drink.
